Mike, you know this already, but the audience doesn't the actual body of the podcast will be all audio only. The video will just be you and I. The reason being is, when we were in this transitional period of figuring out what was kind of next for us, we recorded just as audio for this podcast and this is for the SAC Anime 2024, sorry, 2025 coverage, which we'll get to in a second.

We got to talk to some great people but again, we'll get to that. But, mike, I think the plan is because we have a camera we need to use, so we're going to start when we do those live shows. We'll record that, I think, right yes, yes, yes, we will record it and it'll be interesting because it's all going to be new. And now we're going to get to edit video footage with audio footage while being out in the field, so we're like walking on the moon here. I know that's freaking crazy.

I hear what you're saying, okay. Totally just kidding, by the way. All right, too late. Let's talk about SAC Anime 2025. Mike, as you said in the actual episode, this was your first ever SAC Anime convention and, for those who don't know, you know the people behind it, so can you just give them a little summary of what SAC Anime is?

3:41 Yeah, so SAC Anime is actually a shoot-off of SAC Con, which used to be called, years ago, sacramento Comic Convention. They used to hold it at the. For those that are familiar with the Sacramento area, there's the Scottish Rite Center, which is right across the street from SAC State in Sacramento, obviously, and the anime over the years started to get so big that it kind of was taking over the comic book aspect of the show of the cons. They started doing SAC anime as like an offshoot and that became much bigger than the actual SAC con, big enough, in fact, that there's now two of them a year, one at the beginning of the year one, I think, a labor day, and it's, I mean, they have at the convention center.

4:27 There's like 30 000 people that come to this show now. So it's a very big show and they get a lot of great guests, a lot of good voice actors, video game voice actors, not just voice actors too. I mean they have a huge, a huge amount of, uh, of talent that comes in and then, yeah, tons of vendors. They have multiple floors. It's just, it's have a huge amount of talent that comes in and then, yeah, tons of vendors, they have multiple floors. It's become a huge, huge convention. Yeah, and it's a fun fact, that isn't the con that you and I met, but the SAC con is actually where me and Mike met many, many, many years ago. Yeah, before there was a SAC anime. Yeah, yeah, so shout out to that. There you go, friendships are made. That's what's so great about this con Friendships are made and podcasts are birthed.

5:11 Yes, we have birthed. Yes, we have birthed something together. So you know, Mike, you're not really the biggest anime guy. Not that you don't like it, it just doesn't really speak to you. Is that right to say? Or you don't like it? I mean, I've watched some stuff. There's some cool things out there, so yeah, but I just in general it's not the thing that I'm most drawn to I would say yeah, and you know it's interesting because we go to a lot of cons that we talk about. Anime is kind of taking over, or it's been taking over the con, the con, comic-con, event, convention world. Even when we go to san diego comic-con, there's such an anime presence, which there's nothing wrong with that. And I was really kind of excited to do this con because we've never really done this one before.

5:52 And not only did we get to meet, uh, three great uh voice actors, uh, two of which are from the mass effect series, uh, the regular show fallout, you know big, big things, and we also got to talk to somebody from the squid game, the american voice dub of the main character, which was a unique thing. I was thinking about that. I don't think we really have done that before. But also we got to, we got to see some friends. Yeah, we got to talk to uh, you know the show opens with and I guess I should preface this on on camera we have our own series of characters that come and go throughout the Uncle Dad world and one of them is actually going to kick off the show and his name is Chris Wisnia.

6:32 Great, great guy, mike, I'm sure you'll say the same One of the best dudes in the world. Yeah, really funny. Talented dude, great artist, great musician. Yeah, one of the sweetest humans that you'll ever meet for sure. Yeah, and he kicks off the show. So you know, that person you hear isn't Mike, it's somebody else. But as you continue to listen through our YouTube era, you're going to see a lot of fun. People come back and forth. But, yeah, we had Chris Wisney. We got to meet up with another friend of ours named Imanek, and you can learn about all these people by going back to the catalog and going to UncleDadTalkscom. Isn't that right, mike? That's right. Yeah, we even had the Bracket Monster there along with us and, yeah, all of these guys are on multiple episodes.

7:13 So, yeah, they're part of the Uncle Dad family, which, yeah, it's good to have some people like help carry the weight, because you know, we do a lot of work here, man. Yeah, we sure do, we do, especially the Terra-certified one. That's right, man, my goodness, my hands are tired from making all this art. God, that sounded so fake. Yeah, mike, at the end of the day, what was your thoughts of SAC Anime 2025? As a non-anime goer, did you dig it? You know what People have been saying to me, that I should have a booth there for years, and I'm always like, no, I don't do anime, I don't sell anime, it doesn't matter and it really doesn't.

7:56 There were a lot of anime guests that were directly related to anime, but not just anime guests and not just anime artists. So I feel like a fool that I've been declining to come to this event as a guest myself for years. So but yeah, I would say it was. It had everything that any con would have. It had artist alley, it had booths with anything you could think of Tons of different guests from all kinds of different genres of film and video games and cartoons. I'm sure they had panels. I think they even had like an adults-only or I don't know about X-rated adults-only room that sold adult-type items.

8:42 Do you know what adult anime is called? Sling. Well, this guy does, and that's called hentai. Yeah, I knew that. I was just seeing. If you really knew that, that's why. I did and you can't see it, but I have a very, very sexy picture of something over here, but we'll save that for a different day. Yeah, Not just the second video episode. Yes, yeah, we got more time, mike. We got to interview Bill Sawyer and Sawyers. He is the voice of Doc Ock in the amazing Spider-Man video Not the amazing, sorry, let me phrase that. He was the voice of Doc Ock in Spider-Man, which is an amazing PS5 game, and PS4 game, spider-man 1 and 2. We've also got to interview courtney taylor, who was the voice of I, I, you know I guess you would call it the sole survivor of fallout 4.

9:30 Fallout 4 is a big game to me, I know. You know fallout falls one of the biggest tv shows that come out last year. So we got to interview her as well. And you know, as I mentioned earlier, we got to interview, uh, the dub actor for a squid game. So let me tell you there's some fun stuff in here and we have a good time and Mike, interviewing those folks. It must have been a little bit intimidating, right, because you don't really know their animated or their gaming work. So what was that like? And I think you had it at the well, well, it was not my first rodeo. I can safely say I may have interviewed some other people on this show and not really known a thing about the genre. So I know how to bullshit my way through an interview or two.

So it feels very surreal to me right now. So thank you for that, but let's just kind of go Bill Sayers or William. Bill Sayers, but I go by Bill William's just for contracts and credits. So we'll just call him Bill. All right, bill. Regular show. What has been your craziest memory while doing that show? My craziest memory. Wow, there's been a lot of really funny people on that show. There was a time our engineer, robert, used to like to listen for really incriminating clips where we would say something unfortunate and then he'd just play it back to us over and over again.

21:50 And Roger Craig Smith was quoting a girl talking about eating at Five Guys and he quoted her and said that this lady apparently said well, five Guys in your mouth, great, but five guys in your stomach. And that was replayed on a loop over and over and over again, and the fact that it was Roger's voice was even funnier. How does that feel to you? Well, I always say five guys in your wallet after I go to Five Guys, because that place is not cheap. Right. Well, you know these important Hollywood types. They go to the best places. Of course, and you're important too, though you know. Speaking of importance, you play arguably one of the most important characters in gaming right now. It's Dr Octavius in the Spider-Man games.

22:30 My man here is a very big fan of Spider-Man, and so I just go ahead and let him have it. Well, bill. So first of all, were you a fan of Spider-Man before you did the game? I would consider myself a casual fan and, oddly, I think that that really helped because I wasn't trying to. I get asked all the time if I, if I based him, if I looked at fred's work again or if I or if I went back to the comic books or anything like that, and I really tried to just take my auto octavius from the script and um and, and I was glad I was able to do that your octavius, in my opinion, speaks in volumes in ways that it's honestly probably as close as what's his name from spider-man 2 javier bardem, or javier bardem, yeah javier bardem from melina fred yeah yeah, it speaks to me in that same level and I'm not gonna lie to you and I really don't, and I really mean this.

23:18 Some respects. I think that before your performance is better than his thank you. You know the thing that I I met fred and he I've also seen him on stage. He's an amazing actor. But one of the things I always try to point out and to keep in mind myself is Fred. Fred had, you know, two hours to, to, to, to keep 17 year olds on the edge of their seats, and I got all of that. Really as much as you wanted to find out about doc, you know, was all written into that beautiful script. So I just, I just had, in my opinion, I had better writing to work with, but I definitely had more writing to work with. Well, I think you speak to it in a more truthful way too, like it comes off very truthful. I think in acting right, it always needs to speak truthfully to you and to the audience, right? So I think when you did your performance it comes off truthfully, comes off honest, and I think you know, know, he doesn't play a lot of games, but I think if he did play this game it would blow his mind well, yeah, I mean, I have a spider-man number 50 tattoo on my arms.

24:08 I'm a huge like that's one. It's one of my favorites. So is there a comic book that you could pull out that would be your favorite, or is that too far away from from what your interests are as okay, this is, this is, this is gordy. Nobody really cares. I was really big into the shadow and the reason I dug him the reason I dug lamont cranston was kind of the same reason I dig batman is it's like he there was no, like he wasn't from a foreign planet, he wasn't like an alien planet, he wasn't bitten by a radioactive spider, he just like did it all himself. You know what I mean and that that always kind of appealed to me. So yeah, wow, I, this is incredible. I I don't want to take too much of your time because you have a line building so we're going to go, but I just can you do me a favor?

25:33 Why do you exist if your sole purpose has become to disappoint me? Wow, that just gave me shivers. I, that just gave me shivers. I ask myself that in the mirror every morning when I wake up. So, greg, you've done a lot of work, a lot of great things. Let me ask you, what is your favorite piece of work that you've ever done? My favorite, absolute favorite piece of work that I've ever done is Yagami, from a game called Judgment and Lost Judgment two games from RGG. It was my first real lead role in a video game, a big video game, and you never forget your first time. You know you never do right, mike. I forgot. Mike, I know you had something you wanted to ask. Yeah, greg. So like I know you from Squid Games Everyone knows Squid Games the show is giving me nightmares.

26:16 So are you a horror guy? Does that show give you nightmares or are you able to just go and do your work and it doesn't affect you? in any way at all. So I do love horror movies. It takes quite a bit, I think, to really get to me. So Squid Game doesn't really faze me honestly. Hereditary, that fazed me. The Shining fazed me. Midsommar Eli Roth's stuff gives me nightmares in a different way. So a lot of movies really have kind of scarred and traumatized me. For some reason I just keep coming back to watch them because I love them. I'm very drawn to horror movies. Well, I love that because I'm very drawn to horror movies, and my favorite movie of all time is midsummer. We talk about that so much on this show, uh, and I'm curious, since we're just, you know, to get to know you a little bit. What was your, what is your initial thought of the ending of that?

26:59 film. I mean, at the end I was just so kind of on edge and exhausted. I was like okay, like what am I looking at here? Like I'm horrified, but what does this mean? And I was trying to search for, sort of thematically, what all that whole last scene was about. And, honestly, I couldn't figure it out. I was just so confused and terrified and I just walked away going well, that was upsetting, yeah, you know and it's funny. So for me I watched that movie probably 10 times a month, like I'm not kidding. I love that movie and what I kind of take from it is that it feels almost like a backwards family movie. A backwards family movie, the sense that the whole movie is about loss of family and then gaining a family, and so when you think about it at the end, when she's laughing- spoilers, by the way and she's laughing.

27:50 You know, she's upset, she's laughing and she gives you that tiny little smile because she realizes at that moment I have found my family. I guess that's true. You know, I don't even know if I made that connection. I thought it was just a creepy kind of like oh, she's lost her mind, kind of thing. You know, see that too, yeah, and so, um, if I look at that now, I'm gonna watch it again because of you. I hope you do. No, I honestly will, because I want to see it through that lens and I'm going to be upset for days, but I'm going to do it. I hope you do, Mike. What's your thoughts on Midsommar? Well, if you watch it 10 times a month, you might get a different meaning out of it than anyone else. All right. Well, okay, don't make me show. You voiced the English dub on that. Let me ask you this what was that? Did you ever expect that show? to be what it became Absolutely not. You know, it was just when we did season one. It was just another Korean dub.

28:31 There's lots of media coming over from Korea and we've dubbed a ton of Korean shows. I will say that that first episode of season one when they're playing, is it the first or second episode? they're playing Red Light, green Light, I think it's the second when that moment hit and the first person got shot. I mean, everybody's seen it. When the first person gets shot in that episode, that's kind of when my jaw dropped in the recording booth and I'm like I'm interested to see what happens right now. So I did think later maybe people will enjoy watching this, but I never thought it was going to be this phenomenon like that. 30:39 Yeah, I don't want to fanboy too much because we never really talked about my love for Fallout, so I'm just going to tell you this I went through a lot of weird emotional things the past two years and I have to tell you this that game is probably the saving grace to my life, because I only played the female, because I think the female one, women are, women are awesome, that's right. Women are strong. Oh hell yeah, and you had, I think you had a better performance, not to say the other performance wasn't great, I just think different and the perspective is a little bit better, I think. And so that playing that game, I beat that game probably seven times in the past two years because it means so much to me. So, with that being said, thank you for that. Thank you for telling me that. It is one of the great rewards of doing this job. We spend so much time in a booth by ourselves, so when we get to come out in public and actually when they let us out of our booths and we get to hear stories like that, it makes a huge difference because a lot of times you can feel like you don't even know.

31:31 You just send your work out into the world and then, once you get to a convention, you start talking to people and they start sharing their stories and it's huge. And I will say for the voice actors, it's the same, it's the same. I mean, I had a lot of stuff going on when I was recording that and over the two years that I was recording it, and so it was really cathartic for a lot of things. So I feel lucky to get to do this job and get to work through my own personal issues while I do it. Love that.

32:11 I mean, mike, we talked about that a lot too, right. Sometimes you just need to put yourself in your art right, and when you put yourself in your art art, you can do things that you never thought you could do. Am I right saying that? Yeah, I mean, you throw yourself into a creative outlet, right, and then you probably bring apart what's within you that you don't even realize would even come out. So it's great that you have that outlet and also, uncle dad, that you have an outlet to play a game for two years and and beat it yeah, and that game would have been out for a long time now, right? Yeah, I think it came out in the end of 2015. And so that's also. What I love is that with Fallout 4, with Mass Effect, the trilogy, a lot of these games have so much material that if you're going to pay a lot of money for this game, at least you get hundreds and sometimes thousands of hours, and that they allow you to go back and revisit things, make different choices, and so you can replay it at a different point in your life, and it will be a completely different experience, hopefully.

32:53 And I love that you said that, because I never played the DLC. I played it when it first came out right and I kind of stopped playing it and then I played it and I played it. But then I really dived into it the past few years and I was like, okay, now it's Fog Harbor or Far Harbor, yes, yeah, yeah, absolutely Probably the best piece of DLC and your performance in that is so good. But anyway, sorry, I get too excited about that. But I'm curious have you played Fallout 4, correct? I'm not a huge gamer, but I've played parts. I usually sit and watch people, but that was a lot of hours, sure. Well, I'm asking because I wanted to ask who would be your romancing partner, oh fall out full God. I mean me personally, probably, kate.

33:35 Oh okay, okay, okay, I'll tell you mine. Mine was Piper. Yeah Well, everybody loves Piper, piper the investigator, come on now. She is great and you know, it just depends. I mean also it depends on them. I love that you can romance in. You know, in many games you can kind of romance like depends on the day, depends on who you are being in, any, you know. So I mean Nick Valentine's amazing as well. So you know, if you want to get weird, you could try the Silver Shroud. I don't know, you know. No, you could do that. Okay, I want to try that, you can't. But there are so many different things you know, and also knowing a lot of the people that have done these voices too Like I know them in person. So sometimes it also commingles where I'm like, well, they're amazing, they'd be really loving, I bet you, they'd give a great cuddle.

35:08 Nerds, yes, it's a civic privilege and that you know we have the opportunity to help steer our country in large numbers if we get out there and do the things. So politics to me is partisan right. This isn't about being an American. This is the thing that should unite us all is the opportunity to vote. So, nerds, vote is about that, because I would rather people be, even if I personally disagree with someone. If people are educated and they're making educated, thoughtful choices, that's all you can really ask for, right? I mean, I can hope that they're going to make it from kindness, a state and a federal level, we could make this country really amazing, because that's what democracy is about is all of us having a say vote.

36:05 I was disappointed by the turnout, but I am always disappointed because I want it to be 100%. I personally am sad. I want this country to be based on kindness and empathy and education, and the things that I feel are important are things that I don't think that the incoming administration values. I personally am a huge fan. I was a kid on welfare and I went to public school and I was raised by my mom and my my fairy godfather, and so the LGBTQ community is very important to me and I places come in to your country, what value and how that helps a country and creates diversity, strength and diversity.

36:58 And as somebody who went to public school and was on welfare, I appreciated those programs because they allowed me to, as an adult, be someone who has a certain degree of success and able to give back, and those programs to me are things that I want to give back to because they helped me. I also believe strongly in a woman's right to healthcare and her right to choose what to do with her body, so those things are not going to be priorities. I don't think that that's a reason to give up. I think that the pendulum swings back and forth, but I think the more we get to know each other as people and fellow citizens and people from citizens of the world, we will. We will have a better country, and so I'm just going to continue to push for education, conversations and and trying to show people that a lot of the stuff that people are angry about right now is actually something that doesn't really affect their lives.

37:50 I'm always amazed that people are so upset about transgender folks, because I grew up in San Francisco, I live in Los Angeles and, like you, would think that they like this is a huge problem, that everyone everywhere is like oh my God, everyone that's reading to my children are transgender. I guarantee you you know plenty of transgender people and it has never bothered you. So just trying to create bridges and introduce people so that they understand each other and can say, oh, this isn't something that I don't know, this isn't a scary concept, this is a real person. And if I'm talking about being a child of immigrants, if I'm talking about being on welfare and those kinds of things, it's not other.

38:32 You know, once you stop othering people and get to know them, that's where we're going to come together and make this country really strong and fair and just. I absolutely love that, mike, as long as you stay true to you and the fact that we're all here trying to unite. I mean, that's why we do places like SAC Anime. It's just the places where people come together and share what they love and like. If we focus more on that, instead of focusing on like who shouldn't do what and what we think we hate, what we're scared of, like, we'd just be way better off. So yeah, Absolutely. 39:57 I would go to a concert and I would see people trying to register to vote, people to vote, but not in the nerd space, and I feel like, of all the people that should be voting, the people who come to conventions are creative, they're smart, understand the you know gamers, understand the consequences of your actions and Paragon and Renegade and all of these things translate into real life and so, and traditionally, a lot of people have not asked nerds what they want or what they believe in, and so now I want to make sure that there's a platform and a conduit so that they can use their voice just like I use my voice for good, hopefully. I love that. I can't. There's not more much I can say about that. That's amazing. But before we wrap it up, let's add a little fun in there.
